Our mission is to empower Disabled people in London to participate fully in economic, social and community life.
We support disabled people and their organisations by providing an accessible disability hub based at our building at 336 Brixton Road.
We are an independent, sustainable social enterprise, a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. For almost thirty years we have worked closely with disabled people and the charities which support them.
We have strong links with the local community. People can access advice and support from the wide range of disability organisations based here. This provision is being enhanced by the development of a One-Stop Information Shop which is the first project of Lambeth Centre for Independent Living, currently being established by organisations here with the support of We are 336.
We are innovative
We are a self financing charity providing accessible and affordable office space to disability, older people’s and carers’ charities which offer a wide range of services. We also have a small accessible conference centre which is used by local organisations. Our basement area is used for a range of activities including an arts space and cycle maintenance classes.
We are unique in providing ‘seed-bed’ opportunities at a peppercorn rent for start-up disability organisations working towards becoming registered charities. We are currently supporting a disability arts project and an employment and training initiative as start-up seeds.
We provide employment opportunities and work placements for disabled people and in 2010 were awarded the prestigious ‘Star Social Firm’ quality standard, by Social Firms UK, now Social Firms England.
Our vision
We have exciting plans to refurbish and extend our premises which will transform the building and the local environment. We have invested in our future by commissioning an innovative design from an award winning architect and we have received planning permission to develop our scheme.
